Miss Ethel Roosevelt, youngest daughter of Teddy Roosevelt, served as a nurse in WWI France.  She was a devoted Red Cross volunteer for over 60 years, chairing the Nassau County (NY) Red Cross during WWII. Ethel was also instrumental in turning her childhood home, Sagamore Hill, into a National Historic Site.
