The wedding of Princess Patricia of Connaught to Alexander Ramsay at Westminster Abbey, 1919
Patricia was the daughter of Queen Victoria’s third son Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn.  Her mother was Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia.
The Duke was Governor General of Canada from 1911 to 1916 and Patricia was very popular among Canadians.  One of the three main infantry regiments of the Canadian Forces was named in her honor and Patricia was well known for her support of Canadian troops during World War I.
Alexander Ramsay was one of the Duke’s aides de camp and the third son of the Earl of Dalhousie. Because he was a commoner, Patricia lost the official title of princess on her wedding day and was Lady Patricia Ramsay after her wedding.
